Boston Software Systems and Saint Clare’s Health System to Present Benefits of Scripting Technology at 2008 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition

Session to Examine How to Save Time and Money and Reduce Risk of Error by Automating Manual Processes

Posted on 2/11/2008

SHERBORN, Mass. – February 11, 2008 – Boston Software SystemsTM, the leader in workflow automation technology to the healthcare market, today announced that Product Manager Thom Blackwell and Saint Clare’s Health System Vice President of Information Technology and CIO Rich Temple will be presenting “Automating a Path to Savings” at the 2008 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla. The session will be held Monday, February 25, at the HIMSS Product Pavilion, Managing the Business of Healthcare, Booth 8181 in the Exhibition Hall.

Keeping up with patient information, regulations and backoffice tasks is a daunting responsibility for hospitals as they face mounting pressures to cut costs, speed up payments/collections and reduce denials. To streamline operations and improve efficiency, St. Clare’s has found scripting technology to be the most effective tactic.

Blackwell and Temple will discuss how to save time and money by efficiently and accurately automating time-consuming, manual processes by using Boston WorkStationTM workflow automation and integration technology. Specifically, Temple will detail how his staff has used Boston WorkStation to automate patient pre-registration with data from their scheduling system, maintain patient records, registration information, human resources documentation and reimbursement forms.

“Everywhere I look I see an opportunity to improve process with automation,” Temple said. “I cringe at the thought of what it would be like to do so manually. Scripting technology is not only faster than a human being, but it can work 24/7. It doesn’t take lunch breaks and it doesn’t sleep.”

Prior to joining Saint Clare’s Health System more than three years ago, Temple served for eight years as a project manager at Health Management Systems, designing and implementing revenue enhancement systems for hospitals and municipal health departments, and later for nine years as an executive director of systems and technology solutions at McKesson Provider Technologies.
